Health and Safety Grid

Lord Line
Tom's House

The health and safety grid was useful to create before beginning production of my music video because then I could notify everyone involved in the video of the safety risks that could occur at the locations causing people to get hurt. However, because I have created this then all of my actors will know the risks and can keep themselves safe so nothing goes wrong and I can also continue to tell people at the location when heading to one of the health and safety issues I have labeled.

Storyboard

Media Language- Practical task

Working in groups of four you need to produce a short video to illustrate the following technical aspects of your chosen form.
  • Editing to the beat
  • Choose a chorus of a song and lip sync using close-ups and tracking shots
  • Illustrate shallow depth of field
  • Pull focus
  • Whip pan
  • Tracking shot
  • Montage editing
  • Match on action
  • 180 degree rule with over the shoulder shots and shot reverse shot editing pattern
  • Lighting that illuminates your footage to high key standard
  • Voice over (documentary)
  • Post production sound (Short film and trailer)
  • Variety of shots angles and distances

The locations used

This is an example of a high key lighting set up which is used to illuminate a person or group of people from the front back and side to create and almost 3D effect but also to diminish the chance of shadows. However since we filmed our video all outside we made sure to use quite open locations since natural lighting is similar to the high key standard.

Actual Video

Peer Feedback
  • Good editing
  • Variety of shots used
  • All in focus
  • Had a voice over describing each item on the checklist
  • Lip syncing was accurate
  • The lyrics and visuals matched
  • Met all the criteria

Artist Identity

I have created a representation of my genre through the costumes that my artist wore in the different locations of my video. I decided to have him wear quite dark colours with a little bit of actual colour such as the red checked shirt. I have done this

Moodboard

This moodboard was very useful to create as it helped me to create a stereotypical profile for my music video and helped me think of what to include in terms of costume and props and it also helped me to come up with the character I wanted to have in my music video as my main artist and how those featuring in the video should be dressed.

Demographics

I will be targeting my promotional package towards a younger audience between the ages of 16-21. I will be aiming for this age group as I am from this age group and know a lot of people around this age like indie music. This fact is backed up by my survey which I found all of my answers in this age group answered and found that the most popular genre of music in it was indie. To adhere to this age group and work with my song I will feature a relationship breaking a part as this is what happens a lot in this age group whether it be happening to them or someone they know, which will connect it more to my audience since they will understand.

I won't be targeting my product at any specific gender as the indie genre brings in multiple audiences meaning that I will do the same when creating my promotional product. To conform to this I have decided to have a male artist and have also included a female character to develop the narrative but also to make my product more appealing to the audience.

The social class I will be targeting my promotional product towards D, C2 and B. My primary audience will be B as white middle class girls tend to listen to indie music the most as they can afford to go to gigs but I will also be targeting towards the D, C2 category as indie gigs tend to be cheaper and have more appeal than pop artists that charge lots of money for concerts.
